I was born in 1949 in Portomaggiore near Ferrara . I live and work near Bologna. I have always been interested in nature, natural sciences, the history and evolution of life, palaeontology and Applied Arts. I studied
at the Liceo Artistico di Venezia (Venice
School of Art) and Scuola Superiore di
Disegno Anatomo-Chirurgico (a high
school specialising in anatomical design)
within the Istituto Rizzoli in Bologna.
Since 1973 my work has consisted of creating
illustrations and designs of nature, particularly for editors. I have also worked for publishing houses including Rizzoli, Mondadori, Gruner und Jahr, Zanichelli and Erizzo. I have collaborated with the Centro Studi e Ricerche Ligabue di Venezia, (“Ligabue” Research and Study Centre in Venice) painting recreations of prehistoric and archaeological scenes. In the last few years I have been working for public institutions and natural associations making informative and educational displays. These include dioramas, three-dimensional models of flora and fauna, tables with illustrations, photos and texts for museums and visitor centres within protected areas. I use a range of techniques including water colours, tempera, pencils, ink, pastels, acrylic and oil for paintings and drawings.
